Eugen Hamm

Having grown up in Raleigh, North Carolina, golf course architect Gene Hamm has always called the Carolinas home. He first opened his practice as a golf architect in 1959.

The underpinnings of Hamm%u2019s design philosophy come from his apprenticeship work starting about 1955 with renowned architect George Cobb, a prolific designer who specialized in creating attractive layouts that the average golfer would find enjoyable rather than frustrating.

In 1957, Hamm was contacted by Robert Trent Jones to created two courses for him. Two years after this, Hamm set off on his own. Hamm is known is one to honor nature while creating courses that are both challenging and fun to play.
